The State (Columbia,SC), 9/20/2001
(Columbia, South Carolina) -- A 4-year-old boy, enrolled in a pre-kindergarten class, took a .22-caliber pistol from atop a 4-foot-high television entertainment center and brought the loaded gun to school. The gun had one bullet in the chamber and five in the clip. The boy brought the gun to show to another student, but it was confiscated after a fifth-grader alerted school officials. The weapon belonged to the boy's father. Both parents were charged with one count each of unlawful conduct toward a child, a felony.
